William M. Barclay

According to his WWI Registration Card, William McKay Barclay, age 21, was employed as a Farm Laborer by Henry A. C. Taylor of Portsmouth. In later years, he was the Superintendent of “Beacon Hill”, the James estate, as well as the Manice estate in Newport and Glen Farm in Portsmouth.  An article in the Newport Mercury (16 May,1914), tells of Mr. Barclay service as an auditor for the Union Cemetery, Portsmouth, RI.

He passed away in 1965 and was buried in the Union Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
