Paul enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1950 where he served his country honorably and with distinction for 27 years, achieving the rank of CWO-4.  His service to his country took him to many places around the world, including Japan and Hawaii.  His wife and six children accompanied him wherever possible.

He was a member of the Chief Warrant Officers Association, USCG, a Master Mason and member of St. John’s Lodge No. 1 A.F.A.M., Portsmouth, Rhode Island
