Leslie Manchester, from Portsmouth, was employed as a Hostler (A man employed to look after the horses of people staying at an inn.) for Miss Rosa Grosvenor at Wyndham on Beacon Hell Road in Newport, RI when he registered for military service on 6/5/1917. He was a Corporal in HQ Co., 9th Infantry, 2nd Division. He is buried in St. Paul’s Cemetery, East Main Road and Church Lane in Portsmouth, RI.
